Well hello there.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I loved every minute of mine. Chico was perfect and just what the doctor ordered. I even got a sunburn to prove my relaxation (so relaxed I didn't even realize I was getting burned!). Saturday the kids and I spent the day watching and playing sports. It was wonderful to be watching baseball again. Noah B, Cayden, and AJ you all did a great job! I also loved all the good sportsmanship I saw out there. Well done boys! Noah L, it was also nice to see you in the stands cheering on your friends! Awesome.
I texted everyone their kiddo's NWEA MAP test scores. I hope that you got them and were as impressed as I was. Holy growth Batman!!!! If you didn't get your kiddo's score, please text me and I will get that to you right away.
This week, we take the Smarter Balanced Test. This is the national/state test. We will not get the results right away. This test consists of math and reading, along with an essay and section of multistep math problems that kids have to explain. This is similar to the old MontCas. We will start with these two tests and work our way through to the standard multiple choice ones.
Tuesday will be a difficult day for all of us. It will be our classmate, Espen's, last day. He spends part of each school year in Norway. His father's side of the family is there. How awesome for him...but how sad for us. We wish him well, and we can't wait to see him in the fall again next year! Travel safe buddy! What an AMAZING kid and family!
I spent today in Red Lodge with one purpose. I went to get Miss. Hanna her Huckleberry taffy. Her braces came off, and now the taffy chewing can begin! Enjoy Miss. Hanna!!!! It is all for you! (Well...I did get myself my own bag as well :0))
We have a field trip this Thursday. We will be gone all day to Plenty Coup National Park. We will finish up our read aloud this week, that is explaining the Crow tradition of counting coup. I can't wait to visit this place and see it all come alive. I do need a chaperone. Text me if you can join us for the day. (I only need one). Don't forget kiddos need to pack a lunch that day along with a drink.
We have three more field trips for sure this year: Pompey's Pillar, The Grewell Ranch, and one for Arbor Day. Last year I took the kids to Spinners the last week of school via our bikes on an off road trail with Mr. Pertuit. Would you like to do that again? All three of the field trips will be a cost from you to pay for the busses. So, we are looking at around $20 for each child to cover all of them for the year. The yogurt one would be extra to purchase their treat. Last year it was $5 and we preordered with one topping. Let me know what you are thinking by writing YES saying you are ok with all of the costs or NO and you want me to cut back on trips. Those that write in the planner will earn $50 tomorrow. It is always fun to do these trips at the end of the year, but I understand if it is just too much right now.
Well, that about does it for the week. Have a great, great Sunday! The weather is supposed to be nice all week! Yay!!!
Mrs. Grewell
