Today was another fun day at Arrowhead. From the moment I got up I was excited to come to work. Of course I wanted to see your child, but what had me extra excited was knowing that I was going to have lunch with an amazing woman. Being teacher appreciation week, I invited my own 6th grade teacher to have lunch with me. Her name is Mrs. Robinson (it was Mrs. Laird when I had her). Cheryl is so very dear to me. Since 6th grade, she has been an active person in my life. She has been at my weddings, my kids events, deaths, and all other BIG events in my life. We even do the small stuff, like grab coffee and catch up. There were many times in my 6th grade that I wanted to give up. Cheryl refused to let me and she is truly the reason that I began to BELIEVE. Life wasn't easy for me as a kid, but she made my life have meaning. As she told the class today, I wasn't the easiest kid to have in the class. (Let's just say the principal and I were good friends as well!). But, she loved me and she honestly took over the role of a mom when mine could not. In return, I trusted her and I believed in her belief for me. So, if you appreciate me for your child...you should hunt this lady down and honestly thank her. Without her and her love I would not be your child's teacher today. Relational teaching...it just matters! :0) Turns out this lady has also touched two of your kiddo's lives. She is related to Miss. Morgan and family friends with Gabrielle's family! Blessed!
Homework tonight is to sit down and spend some quality time making a 4th grade quality card for a past teacher or a current specialist. In the morning, we will take a walk around the school and spend time delivering them to those teachers. Kids can pick any teacher that is still currently working at Arrowhead besides ME. I have been spoiled enough! (If you look closely at the picture with my teacher you can see the awesome STAR scarf that Avery and mom gave me today. If you look really, really close you can see the matching necklace they gave me yesterday! How fun! Thanks girls. I can't wait to wear them both again when I head to the movie theater with Miss. Kyra. She gave me a gift card, and I am taking her along! That seems fair to me!!! (Mom...I will call you on this soon. :0)) The PTA spoiled all the teachers rotten this week. We had a bagel breakfast on Monday, Healthy snacks on Tuesday, Taco lunch and desserts on Wednesday, and today we were treated with all kinds of different popcorn (I even had birthday cake flavored popcorn...say what!) along with a fun bag of treats. My goodness....can you smell me from there...I am SPOILED ROTTEN! Thank you so much! All of you!
The Bike/Walk event was a huge success. All kids made it back safe and alive, so that is success in my book! I so enjoyed my time walking the scavenger hunt with Adler, AJ, and Gwen.
We have our Arbor Day field trip tomorrow. A HUGE thank you to Krissy's mom for agreeing to be our chaperone. We leave right at 9:30 and will be gone for the day, returning around 1:30. Kids need to remember their sack lunches and need to dress for the weather. Think layers!!!
Happy Summer Birthdays to these two great kids. Noah celebrated his on Monday with delicious fudge bars and ice cream sandwiches. It was a HOT day so that was the perfect treat! Today, Miss. Lane made some serious cash selling her Ladybug cupcakes. Rumor has it her nickname is Laneybug so it was a perfect treat as well. Happy Early Birthday to you both Noah and Laney! I hope the real one is just as fun!
Have a super night!
Mrs. Grewell
