I do what I do because I love to do what I do. Tammie Grewell

Hi there.

A busy, busy day! The NAEP test went great. All kiddos did their best, and I am proud of them. Those that were with me not taking the test, also did their best being quiet and having some time to just read a book, do a USA puzzle, read about space, or catch up on some missing work.

We started to add fractions today with and without common denominators. Fun times. Have your kiddo show you how to add 2/10 and 3/5ths. Make sure to remind them to ask their brain question about can the smaller denominator turn into the larger one. In this case, they should say yes, and make the denominator 10 for both fractions. They should end up with 8/10ths. See if they can take it a step farther and get the 5th grade reduced fraction answer by dividing a two out of both the numerator and the denominator to get 2/5ths. Wowzers. If they can at least show you the 4th grade answer of 8/10ths write WOW in the planner for $10 tomorrow.

Homework tonight is a DMG (Dear Mrs. Grewell) half page letter. Some kiddos used their homework pass on this one. They may enjoy the night off. :0)

Have a wonderful night!
Mrs. Grewell
